The Public Safety Office sets standards for boilers and pressure vessels; public school building construction; the manufacture, storage, sale and transportation of explosives; and the operation of carnivals and amusement parks. Permits are required for th e manufacture, storage, sale, transportation, and use of explosives and for the operation of carnivals and amusement parks. Public school building plans are reviewed and construction sites inspected to assure compliance with State building codes. Boiler a nd pressure vessels are inspected annually to ensure the safety of the general public.
